Let’s Get Vulnerable

Poetry Slam has subverted the expectations of Shakespearean poetry with its rigid metres and anticipated rhyming scheme. Winnipeg Poetry Slam is proud to witness and support poets who stand on stage and deliver free verse, improvisation, lyrical, hip hop or punk, literary inspired, or traditional pieces. Poetry Slam encourages the individual to push at the definition of ‘poetry’ itself, encouraging the idea that ‘poetry’ is an expression of one’s lived experience, and thus can be anything.
